- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups buttermilk
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup melted ceremonial grade chocolate for marble effect
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a Bundt cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In another large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- In a small bowl, melt the ceremonial grade chocolate.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Drizzle half of the melted chocolate over the batter. Using a skewer or knife, gently swirl the chocolate through the batter to create a marble effect.
- Add the remaining batter and drizzle the rest of the melted chocolate. Swirl again to create more marbling.Pour hot water into a baking dish and place it on the lower rack of the oven. This helps keep the cake moist.
- Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
